GOD’S FAMILY

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,” Ephesians 2:19

This year has been challenging. We were all anxious for 2021 after the sobering and sinister effects of 2020 and the global pandemic that continues to plague us. Instead, we began 2021 with one of the most outrageous attacks ever leveled against our government. The January 6th assault on Congress was repulsive to watch. The country was coming apart before our very eyes, and the ill effects of that day’s hateful actions continue to reverberate.

The U.S. is terribly divided politically, economically, socially, racially, and the list goes on. This is not what God intends. Scripture teaches us that these divisions are against the will of our Creator. God wants us to live harmoniously as one family in peace and provision.

We need Advent. We need to be reminded that Jesus was born into a fractured world. Jesus taught us that living together as siblings is achievable, but only with God’s love that comes through us and into the world.

Our prayer is that during this Advent Season, we will be better and more faithful members of the family.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Parent - we are grateful for Advent and the birth of our Lord and Savior. May our commitment to show your love in our challenging world be strengthened and renewed.
