Three Bills, Three Yeses!
With only three weeks left in the session, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 was a big day for our legislative priorities in the Illinois General Assembly Committees.
Anti-Gun Trafficking Initiatives
We call upon all Illinois legislators to ensure that any gun legislation that is called for vote in the General Assembly include the following anti-trafficking measures: universal background checks, titling handguns, and reporting lost or stolen firearms.
The Case for Second Chances
Every day 3.9 million men and women in Illinois are denied opportunities to decent employment and housing. Current law and practices prevent hard-working, law-abiding individuals the chance to move forward from past mistakes. HB 3061 would give many of them a better future.
Bill to End Felony Prostitution
Illinois ought to be a leader of national legal reforms that consider prostituted people as victims of human trafficking in need of services rather than as criminal offenders.
