Public Hearing on ‘Pretextual Traffic Stops’

  • The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center 740 East 56th Place Chicago, IL, 60637 (map)

In July, the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) received a petition from the Free2Move Coalition, of which CRS is a steering committee partner, to hold a hearing on pretextual traffic stops and explore policies to end this harmful and excessive practice. The CCPSA scheduled a hearing, but now Chicagoans must show up to ensure the concerns and expertise of those directly impacted are well represented to influence effective policy changes!

Join us and our community partners at the CCPSA’s public hearing, where the Commission will listen to leading experts, academics, and practitioners—who’ve studied reforms to these policies across the nation. Commissioners will ask questions and learn about the nuances of these reforms. Together, let’s pack public comment demanding justice for Dexter Reed! Those unable to attend the special meeting in-person can join virtually via Zoom.
