The Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability (CCPSA) was established to strengthen civilian oversight of the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), and the Police Board. The Commission empowers residents to play a direct role in shaping public safety policies and ensuring law enforcement is accountable to the communities it serves.
Each month, the Commission holds a public meeting to hear directly from residents about their public safety concerns and priorities. Join CRS at the upcoming CCPSA monthly public meeting.
Those unable to attend the meeting in-person can join virtually via Zoom.
Agenda items include:
COPA Chief Administrator Search
Traffic Stops Update
Amendment to Commission Bylaws
The Commission allows for public comments at their monthly meetings. Each person will have up to two minutes to speak. A total of twenty minutes will be dedicated to public comment at each meeting. If you wish to speak during the virtual public comment period, kindly request to do so by reaching out to Community Commission staff by emailing CommunityCommissionPublicComment@cityofchicago.org. Those wishing to speaking during the meeting must provide their name in writing to the Commission staff between 6:00 PM and 6:30 PM. If the number of interested speakers exceeds the time dedicated to public comment, speakers will be selected by a random drawing.
Written public comments may be submitted at the meeting or by emailing CommunityCommissionPublicComment@cityofchicago.org in advance.
