What does a future designed by and for BIPOC LGBTQ+ people look like? How can we create it together?
Pride Action Tank (PAT) and AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC) invite you to Day 1 of Co-Creating Futures: A BIPOC LGBTQ+ Policy & Practices Summit, happening virtually on Saturday, July 31 from 11:00 - 3:30 p.m. CDT. This summit is a call to all Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) LGBTQ+ Illinoisans to join us in answering these questions and mapping out a future that centers our communities and our voices.
Day 1 will be grounded by an opening panel discussion about the practice of co-creation, priming participants for three facilitator-led breakout sessions. These sessions hold space to dream new futures centered on the needs and voices of marginalized communities.
Day 1 of this summit is intended for people who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ+. If you do not identify as both, you can text AFC to 40649 to sign up for the Mobile Action Network and stay updated on future opportunities, including attending Day 2 of this summit.
Join us in building #QueerFuturesInColor on:
+ Day 1 (July 31): Dream — identify unmet needs and brainstorm what a future that centers marginalized communities can look like.
+ Day 2 (Aug. 25): Define — check in with community to investigate and test the insights gathered from Day 1.
+ Day 3 (Sept. 22): Develop — co-create prototype policies, practices and solutions that address identified needs and foster the futures dreamed of on Days 1 and 2.
