Rev. Dr. Waltrina N. Middleton, Executive Director, has been invited to present the libation for the International African American Museum (IAAM) grand opening worship service in Charleston, South Carolina. Community Renewal Society was an inaugural donor to the museum and also participated in a pilgrimage last summer as a spiritual formation leader in Charleston which included a stop at the museum.
The International African American Museum’s Grand Opening festivities will begin with an opening worship service. Beginning at 6:00 PM, the multi-faith celebration of IAAM’s opening will help build community, reflect on the work that led up to the museum’s opening and celebrate the long history of the African American people and their culture, which is woven into the fabric of the museum.
Opening Worship Service
What: IAAM will co-host a multi-faith based worship service with Morris Brown African Methodist Episcopal Church to mark the opening of the museum.
Who: Among others, speakers include Rev. Dr. Waltrina N. Middleton, Dr. Tonya Matthews (President and CEO of IAAM), Bishop Samuel Green, the Rev. DeMett Jenkins (Director of Education and Engagement for Faith-Based Communities).
