Join us on Wednesday April 21st at 9:00 AM at the Thompson Center for a rally, car caravan, and noise demonstration to demand City Council pass the Empowering Communities for Public Safety ordinance.
The fight for a community-driven police accountability system has been going on for years in Chicago, and it's reached a historic moment in the Empowering Communities for Public Safety (ECPS) ordinance. The coalitions behind the CPAC and GAPA ordinances have come together to put forward ECPS, which will create the strongest police accountability model in the country, and a pathway towards community control of the police. We demand the City Council vote on and pass this ordinance!
Join us at the Thompson Center during the City Council meeting to hear from members of both coalitions on what this ordinance and this moment means for them, for the countless Chicagoans affected by daily acts of police terror, and for the survivors of CPD's violence. While we're out there, we'll be making some noise, to ensure the City Council hears how much support there is for this ordinance. Bring noise-makers, instruments, pots and pans to bang together. Make sure your car horn is working. Our communities will be heard! It's time for Lori Liefoot to step aside, and let the people decide!
