Great Is Thy Faithfulness
“Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed thy hands have provided. Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.” Hymn - Great is Thy Faithfulness
We believe in the love, power, and mercies of a God who is on the side of the oppressed. Every ounce of our hope remains deeply rooted in the wisdom of the Lord who invites us to keep our eyes fixed on God and to yield not to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6).
No matter the final ballot count, we must remember our mission and work continues. We must remain steadfast in our commitment to be vessels of love in the world - during our victories and amidst trials and disappointments. We can acknowledge our lamentations and remain on the wall as truth-tellers, prophetic witnesses, and good troublemakers.
As believers of a God of justice, goodness, and righteousness, we declare no weapons formed against us shall prosper. As one of my mentors states, the promise was never that weapons will not be formed, but that they would not prosper.
Keep believing in all of the possibilities with Christ Jesus by our side. I pray that with each day our faith is strengthened and renewed, not solely by one event, but by the small merciful evidence of love, light, and new mornings we are blessed to see every day. In each new morning there is hope, opportunity, and divine call-to-action to be courageous and steadfast voices in the wilderness.
The scripture says the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few. Our work continues and for such a time as this we need laborers of love and justice to join us with hands on the plow in faithful service.
As evidenced by our beating hearts, the breath in our bodies, and every new mercy God bestows, we know God is ever faithful. May we be the same and in this faith find every source of healing and hope we may need to press on!
In the coming weeks, we will raise up powerful reflections and expressions of love and lament as guiding forces, sending waves of healing, compassion, and prayers across our Beloved Community in Chicago and beyond. Let this be a time of unity and restoration, as we hold space for love to renew us and lament to illuminate our path forward.
All we have ever needed, God has provided. God is always right on time! Remember. Believe.
With Love and Lament,
