Standing with the Chicago Community Bond Fund: Free Our People

We stand in solidarity with Chicago Community Bond Fund in their efforts to free people from their bonds and reduce pretrial incarceration.

The slanderous article from the Chicago Tribune is not only an attack on pretrial freedom, it is a defense of a two-tiered justice system: one that grants advantages to the financially privileged while punishing other people for their poverty.

This article reinforces racist fearmongering about people accused of crimes and is riddled with factual errors about the impact of CCBF’s work and by extension the work of the Coalition to End Money Bond.

Our efforts to free people now, like our campaign to end money bond and reduce pretrial jailing, are part of our larger commitment to racial and economic justice. We must not allow misleading reports to threaten our determination to transform the inequitable pretrial justice system. Read their statement in response and share your support for Chicago Community Bond Fund.
