WTTW Introducing FIRSTHAND: Segregation – An intimate look at segregation in Chicago

You are invited to the kickoff event for FIRSTHAND: Segregation, a year-long WTTW initiative that explores segregation in Chicago with a documentary series, expert talks, text and visual journalism, and community discussions.

According to a recent study by the Metropolitan Planning Council, Chicago is one of the most segregated big cities in America. And it comes at a cost. On February 22, 2022, join WTTW for an intimate virtual conversation about segregation in Chicago and how the city’s divisions take a toll on individual residents. Watch highlights from the documentary series and join in the Q&A, co-hosted with Metropolitan Planning Council and the Folded Map Project. WTTW Executive Producer Dan Protess will moderate a live conversation with Tonika Johnson, creator of the Folded Map Project; Pastor Ricky Brown, founder of the New Creation Church; José Rico, director of the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Greater Chicago; and Nan Parson, co-founder and chair of Action Ridge.

FIRSTHAND: SEGREGATION is part of WTTW's award-winning FIRSTHAND multiplatform, multi-year initiative focusing on the firsthand perspectives of people facing critical issues in Chicago. Visit the website (wttw.com/firsthand) on February 22 to explore all of the elements of the project.

This event is free, but RSVP below is required.
